Pros and Cons: Bed Bath and Beyond Wedding Registry
The good…
Good store with a large variety of products.
Their return policy is pretty great before and after the wedding. Even if you do not have a gift receipt, they will accept the returned item as long as it shows up as purchased in the registry.
They constantly offer coupons which you can use when redeeming store credit or gift cards.
They price match if you find the same item at a lower price elsewhere.
Their merchandise credit does not expire and you can also use it at Buy Buy Baby, so whether you need additional house stuff or you decide to expand your family, you will definitely have reasons to spend it later.
The bad…
When you return something from your registry you will get “merchandise credit” which can’t be used online, only in-stores.
Keep your Merchandise credit receipts! I had a ton of credit in one card, and the lady that originally gave me the credit entered my name wrong in the system and did not enter the last 4 digits of my license number, making it very hard for the store to track the balance later on. They finally were able to associate the credit with my email address, but it was really upsetting.
If you return something because you no longer want it, not because it is a duplicate, you need to immediately go online afterwards and delete it from your registry. I kept forgetting to do this, making it seem like the returned item was not fulfilled in the registry, and others would purchase it for us again.
The most frustrating part was not knowing who bought what. Other registries include the name of the person who purchased your gift, which is very helpful. We registered in May 2013, and some items appeared as purchased but we didn’t get them until February 2014, and BB&B customer service had no way to track who bought the items.
Just like in other stores, if you register and receive a certain dollar amount of gifts from specific brands, the manufacturers will give you a gift. However, you need to keep up with this and mail a gift completion form to the manufacturer yourself, BB&B doesn’t do this automatically for you. (Note: I’m not sure how other stores handle the completion program.)
