If Something Goes Wrong on Your Wedding Day…Just Smile
I know…easier said than done, but it is true, specially if you have a videographer. When planning a wedding, you spend so much time thinking about every single detail, and sometimes some minor things do not go as planned. But don’t worry, only you will notice and no one will know. However, this won’t stop you from getting slightly upset or making a “What’s happening? This is not what we planned!” face, so make a conscious decision to smile and let it go because the wedding day goes by too fast to get caught up in the small details. Now, since we are on the subject, here are a five things that went “wrong” on my wedding day.
1. My Vows Got Lost. Long story short, I printed both my personalized vows and the church vows, and realized the personalized ones were left behind in the hotel room when I was in the car waiting for the ceremony to begin. After freaking out and calming myself, we decided to just do the church vows. (Note: This photo was taken when I was panicing, so I figured it would be very appropriate for this post.)
2. Wedding party introductions fail. Our DJ helped us create a mix that started with Samuel L. Jackson’s Atlanta Falcons Rise Up. The idea was to integrate something that represented my husband, and to let guests know that the wedding party entrance was about to start. I wanted the wedding party to enter the reception to this Pitbull song; however, the MC started introducing people meanwhile Samuel L. Jackson was preaching.
3. Father daughter dance cut off. So our DJ didn’t show up to the only meeting we had scheduled (the Thursday before the wedding since we live in Atlanta and the wedding was in Costa Rica), so I emailed him small details, including the father daughter dance. The plan was to play the entire song, because after a couple of minutes, my dad and I were going to take my mom, my siblings and my husband out on the dance floor to get the party started. In order to do this, we had to wait for certain cues in the song, but the DJ started mixing the next song before we concluded our plan.
4. Bustle ripped. So I’ve heard this happens to most brides, specially when you take off your high heels and everyone steps on your dress.
5. Ring Allergy. My husband is allergic to all metals except gold; however, he really liked the dark metal tone of a titanium wedding band we found, and given that titanium is supposed to be hypoallergenic, we purchased it. Unfortunately, the ring gave him an allergic reaction and he was only able to wear it on our wedding day.
