Taking Wedding Vendors for a Test Drive

Have you ever attended a wedding, loved the flowers, the DJ, the cake, the food, the decor, etc. but didn’t ask the bride about the vendors because you didn’t wanted to seem like a copy cat? Or better yet, have you ever attended a bridal show, and had a hard time envisioning the wedding vendor’s booth at a larger scale? Well…last month a friend mentioned The Big Fake Wedding, and I personally think the concept is brilliant! It is literally like taking a fast car for a test drive: it is fun and you get the real experience before buying.

Whether you begin the wedding planning process by putting together a list of local wedding vendors from married friends, bridal shows, or Google, the next step should always be to see samples of their work. Of course, keep in mind that portfolios will only include their best work, and even though testimonials and references are great, other brides might not have your same standards or tastes, and that’s when an alternative like The Big Fake Wedding comes into play.

The Big Fake Wedding is a bridal show with a twist: you get to attend a real ceremony, enjoy a reception, experience wedding vendors in action, and leave with their contact information. It really let’s vendors’ work speak for itself, while inspiring and providing piece of mind to brides and grooms. I really wish we had something like this in Costa Rica when I was planning my own wedding, because as a bride I would’ve appreciated attending an event that made the wedding planning process more fun and less stressful. (Did I mention there is sparkling wine involved?)

If you are engaged, it is never too early to start planning. Check out their event calendar and make it a date night or a girls night.
