Short Engagement Wedding Planning Tips

More and more I'm seeing engaged couples eager to be Mr. and Mrs. ASAP, and moving away from the 12+ month engagement. Wedding planning takes time, and having a longer engagement does help you with booking the vendors you prefer, picking the date you want, and ordering the perfect dress (which usually has a long delivery time). However, having a shorter engagement is doable as long as you keep the following tips in mind.

1. Be flexible. Probably the most important tip I can possibly give you. From the wedding date to the venue, be flexible when researching and booking and don't get fixated on the little things. The shorter your engagement, the less options you are likely to have, so it is important to remember that your #1 priority is to get married soon, and the rest is secondary.

2. Keep yourself organized. Make to-do lists of everything you need to accomplish and stay on top of things. Use spreadsheets and set hard deadlines for you and others involved.

3. Don't procrastinate. It's crunch time! The sooner you make decisions and check things off your to-do list the better.

4. Ask for help. You will be stressed and you will have a ton of things on your mind. Ask for assistance and delegate responsibilities to those willing to help. Don't hesitate to ask your wedding party for a hand and (if you have the budget) hire a Wedding Planner.

5. Budget for Rush Fees. Any time you meet with a vendor, make sure to share your wedding date and ask if there are any rush fees associated with their services or products. Assign a portion of the budget to these fees based on their quotes.
